Learning Reflection

After completing this course,I got the English reading Strategies. I can preview and predict the content of the text,deal with unfamiliar words,skim text to find main gist,express my opinion.

The hard unit are  Today's technology,Ann Landers,English today,Learning Language.
The easy unit  are A healthy diet,Fashion,The ASEAN Community.

I like about learning aid because It's same feel understand between teacher and student.The teacher  give counsel.

Extensive reading

Today,I read the passage about simply read by scan.The teacher command don't stop the hard vocabulary.And then I did exercise  comprehension 1 decide if the sentences are true or false.Then write the line number where the evideence is.and next I did the exercise 2 comprehension 2 ,answer the questions without using a dictionary.This unit is so hard.the vocabularyin the passage is so hard.The story is new for me.I can't scan the passage don't stop the hard vocabulary.

ASEAN and Researcher

Today,Teacher answered the homework about the ASEAN Community passage.
And then  we brainstormed in group about the homework.And brainstorming and present about the impact of ASEAN and "How to prepare yourself in ASEAN" 



We learned about Researcher.


I think researcher is so hard.It's the new story for me.

Read faster and ASEAN

Today,Teacher  answer the exercises from the last class.But the last class I didn't come.I didn't understand in the lesson.Some friends is so fast.I can't follow. It's the problem for me on this class.

I like this lesson because It's so easy for me.I can do the exercises.But the problem is vocabulary.I don't know some it.It make me not understant in the passage.

West Meet East 2


I read about  "Expat in Asia"
 He was travelling in India and he met some Canadians who told me Taiwan was a  great place to teach English.He decided to stay long term because Taiwan has become his home over time.He can live in Taiwan and make decent money eith a work schedule that he has a lot of control over.He was coming from Africa .He think,Taiwan is an easy place to live.
  the differences between Taiwanese culture and American culture.There are also some typical stereotypes the Taiwanese have of American-Americans always eat hamburgers,American have no culture.

West meets East

Today,I learned about
-martial art  in many country like a Karate,Kung fu
-The United States and Canada have many racial/ethnic group.For example,there are large numbers of black,Hispanic,Asian,and of course,white Caucasians living there.
-Heavy metal music used to be popular in Asia,but it is no longer a par of the mainstream youth culture.Most young people these days prefer pop or hiphop music.
-Bruce Lee is one of the first Asian to promote Asian culture in the West.

I read about The Asianization of the United States


- Do  the first exercise  : Decide if the sentences are true or false and answer the questions without using a dictionary. It very hard lesson. It is very difficult for me.I can't do it all.

- Do  the first exercise  : Answer the questions without using a dictionary.

The third exercise : Complete the text with the words in the box,It's the passage about Young-Hee kim,mother of United States football star Hines Ward.

The fourth exercise  :  Complete the sentences with the correct words.The words may need to be changed to match the sentence grammatically.

Hairstyles

Today,I studied on sunday because the class was cancel last week. I studied about hair styles in fashion lesson.It make me to know new knowledge about hair style like a spiky hair,dreadlocks,shaved head,crew cut,shaggy hair,dyed hair
     

Then,I read the passage about 5 people are talking about hair in their country.
Korea  -They have a shaved head can be a form of protest.
The UK.  -They have a shaved head is no big deal.
Japan  -They have rule about students' hair have changed.
Taiwan  -People disagree about dyed blond hair.
The US.  -Student have conservative hairstyle.

Fashion

Today,I had studied about ''Fashion'' .My teacher let us interactive learning  with my friend about last week class or blog.Later,We interactive learning base knowledge about fashion that we searched.And we read on the board about fashion that we know.
        

Dr.Usa show pictures about fashion on the projecture.and I did the exercises by label the pictures using the word from the list.

And I read the passage about Fusion? Confusion!.I read and find main idea.

The Japannese people don't dress more conservatively than the Americans.Japannese student in the US. found difficulty of their clothes.Yomiko has the bad experience about that. the first experience the student saw her quiet and said bad thing.
The second experience,the man approached her and want to take her away because the style she dress.Yumiko realized that her clothes cause the both problem.The US. people rarely dress up.They often wearing jeans,T-shirt and sneakers.The TV programme and film about the US. are very different in reality same as she doesn't have a kimono.

The summaries about the text is Yumiko had a problem because the Americans throught she wore very sexy clothes.Yumiko changed the clothes she wore so that she could look more like the Americans.

And did 6 exercises.That have grammar about "used to" 

Problems is I can't deal with unfamiliar words.

I thing,the TV programme about my country,Thailand are true to life because TV programme in generally is rarely dress silk thai clothes.Thai dress silk thai clothes when they went to the festival or had event.

I think ,the western students may be surpried about the foods because Thai often eat fast food like a pizza kfc Mcdonald and rarely eat Tomyumkung,papaya salad,Mussamun.

Today,My teacher let us interactive learning  with my friend about last week class or blog.Later,I did activity about vocabulary by match the word with the pictures.
Next,I read passage with scanning and skimming reading.And did four exercises.


We have a group work.My teacher lets us for used strategies  reading,scanning,skimming by ours group is about facebook.

   Facebook startedin the United Statesas a way for some college kids to stay in touch when they had left campus.and it's evolved since then to become one of the largest social networks in the world.
   User must to be a little wary about the information you share on facebook like your town,date of bird,marital status and other personal fact.Someone might be able to get enought informationto steal your identity.
 The Adventage.
You will be in touch with a lot of people
Users can exchangingviews and information.
You can send instant message if youe friend are online.
You can shared your picture by upload them.
You can play games across the internet.
You can follow that you minded by that pages.

Today's technology

Today,I had studied about ''today technology'' .My teacher let us interactive learning  with my friend about last week class or blog.Later,We interactive learning base knowledge about technology that we searched.And we read on the board about technology that we know.
Next,I did exercise on my work sheet.First,I solved these anagram.
Second,I put activities in order of how enjoyable they are to do from 1-9 with 1 as the most enjoyable
Third,I read passage about Profcast due to find main idea

My problem is some vocabulary is so hard.I never seen that.
I thing,While students may have been familiar with old knowledge,you need to make sure that meaning become second nature to them.you are going to try some of your activities to make it a more natural part of their vocabulary.

Natural disaster 2

Today,I had learnt about natural disaster the second week.We watched video about Tsunami in Japan.
     


We read the news story about Tsunami in Japan in 2015.  The most powerful earthquake to hit Japan since records began has hit the country's north-east and triggered a devastating tsunami. Japanese TV showed cars, ships and buildings swept away by a vast wall of water after the 8.9-magnitude quake. A state of emergency has been declared at a nuclear power plant but officials said there were no radiation leaks.At least 40 people have been killed by the quake, which struck about 400km (250 miles) north-east of Tokyo.
       Police and local officials said at least 40 people had been killed in the earthquake and tsunami. It is believed the death toll could rise significantly. A ship carrying 100 people was swept away, Japanese media reported, quoting police in Miyagi. It is not clear what happened to the ship and its passengers. 
    an official said it was difficult to gauge the extent of the destruction."Roads were badly damaged and cut off as the tsunami washed away debris, cars and many other things,"

 

The next exercises,I read the news story about Wildfire in California on August,2015.The 13,000 people were evacated from their homes.More than 9,000 firefighters were employed to fight the Rocky fire north of San Francisco.The 24 homes were burnt down the day before Tuesday.The prevented 5,500 homes from the fire was cooler weather helped make a buffer between the flames and the homes.Fire cause drought in the western US have left the landscape tinder dry coupled with unreasonbly humid conditions,lightions.highing strikes and gusting winds
     We completed each sentences with the correct word.The vocabulary was about Natural disaster.

Natural disaster1

Today, I had learnt new stories "Natural disasters"
   
     First,We brainstorm and discuss about Natural disasters by wrote on whiteboard in front of my classroom.It make me know the words that are in association with Natural disasters like Tsunami,Earthquake,Floods,landslice,sinkholes,Volcanic eruptions,Limnic eruptions,Blizzards,Cyclonic storms,Droughts,Hailstorms,Heat wave,Tornadoes,Wildfires,Health disasters such as Epidemics,Impact events,Solarflave.
  
    We discuss online photos of natural disasters and match the name of natural disaster with  the picture and we watch videos about Tsunami in Japan.


   We talk about one type of natural disasters with our partner from the news I can found.

 
                                    Myanmar flooding affects one million.


   The news story is about Myanmar flooding affects one million.
   One million peoples have been affected by the floods.
   The death toll of this incident was 100 peoples.
   The floods worse last week made by Cyclone Komen.
   The damage has been reported is 1.2 million acres of fields have been destroyed.
    Residents in low-lying delta areas have been urged to move to higher ground.

              Typhoon Soudelor hits China with deaths,floods and mudslides

    The news story is about Typhoon Soudelor China with deaths,floods and mudslides.
    Chinese provinces were affected by typhoon Soudelor are Fujiang.
    The direct economic losses in the two provinces were estimated at around eight billion yuan.
    The death toll as reported on Monday was 17 people.
    17 people were missing according to the report on Monday.
    Three people were killed and one was missing by a mudslice in Ningde.
    Ningde is in the eastern province of Fujian.
    The death toll in Zhijiang province was 14 people.
    Casualties caused by the storm in Taiwan have been reported have 6 people died and 379 were injuries.

                  Landslides kill 9 in Doti and Gulmi districts of Nepal  

The story is about landslides in Nepal. 6 people including 5 members of singer family died.At least 32 hours have been evacuated.

  It's easy to answer the questions but I can't translate the story at all.So I found meaning each word of all and bring another.
   I skim the news stories to find the main gist.
   I scan the news stories for specific information.

The second class,I did exercises on my sheet.All of 7 exercises,
-the first exercise,I completed the sentences with some of the words in the box.
-the second exercise,this's activity,compared my answers with a partner answered the question about question used helping verbs like Do you have
-the third exercise,I completed the sentences with the verbs in the present continuous.this is the text about Changing menu served in the cafateria by we can choose its.
-the fourth exercise,I read a text about people in the West changing to a japanese diet and check the ones that you think will be the text.Used the dictionary to check the wordsand phrases in the sentences.
-the fifth exercise,I checked the sentences true by "T" and the sentences false by "F"
-the sixth exercise,I underlined the nouns phrase that each pronoun refers to.and wrote the nouns in to the space on some sentences.
-the seventh exercise,I completed the definitions with words and phrases from the text.

And the last activity,My teacher teached me to find the main idea in the first text about "No more junk food"

I have a problem on the meaning on some phrases and I don't know part of speech on some word.And I can't find the main idea on the text increasingly.I solved problem by asked my friends and find on the dictionary.




I think my diet is very unhealthy.
I eat a lot of junk food and fizzy drinks.
I try not to eat too many vegetables and fruits.
                For breakfast I usually drink cold chocolates.
                
                and at lunchtime I eat rice.
 
                In the evening I have a big meal.

                Two things I love are chocolates and cheese.

                and one thing I never eat is vegetables.

  Today,I had learning for English Reading Strategies.My instructor of this course is Ass.Prof.Dr.Usa Noytim.
  First,she explained course syllabus such as course description,Objectives,content,Course Schedules,Materials,Assessment and how to learning perfect or how to get good grade.
        
        Lesson 1 is A healthy diet.
Exercise 1 : put the words on the table,types of food into the correct column.
Exercise 2 : match the words and phrases in bold in the text to the definitions.
Exercise 3 : Read the text quickly and put the key phrases in the space at the end of each  
                 paragraph.
Exercise 4 : Read the text again which about the government in England wants to bring back healthy school lunches

       I can do the exercise 1-3 but I can't do exercise 4.Because  I don't understand in some phrases and some word.Therefore I tried to find them from dictionary.

      For the English reading strategies,I use scan various texts to find specific information and search for needed information.
      Attitudes towards of the lesson is not many words.It had better if it had so many word for progress learning
